A horizontal straight arm carries the luminaire with a tie rod above it, so the arm is held at the top as well as at the root. The tie rod is the element to agree from the luminaire weight.

Where the Tie-Rod straight arm fits
A straight arm carried by a tie rod from higher up the shaft — the classic structural answer to reach: the rod takes the tension, so the arm can be longer and slimmer than a cantilever of the same strength. It reads as engineering rather than decoration, which is why it suits arterial roads and industrial estates.
Steel section as drawn, 6–12 m, Q235/Q235B/Q345, hot-dip galvanised. The rod anchorage and its adjustment are the parts to check on the drawing: a tie rod that cannot be tensioned on site leaves the arm hanging on the weld alone.
- Straight arm with tie rod; single side.
- Rod anchorage must be adjustable on site — ask for the detail.
- Good solution for long reaches without a truss.
