In a split system the solar panel and the LED lamp head are two separate units. The panel sits on top of the pole or on a dedicated bracket and is cabled down to a charge controller; the lamp head is mounted on the pole arm. Because the two parts are independent, panel area, battery capacity and light output can each be sized for the road instead of being fixed by a single housing.
The HC-DT-1 lamp head covers 30 W to 150 W at 120 LM/W in an IP65 housing, with a choice of 3000 K, 4000 K and 5700 K colour temperatures. It is the usual choice for wide carriageways and mounting heights above 10 m, and for projects that must meet a specified lighting class.
