HC-RS-01 is an embedded solar road stud: a marker that sits flush with the road surface and charges from its own monocrystalline panel during daylight. The panel is rated 2.5V/200 mA or 4.5V/120 mA depending on the cell option, and it charges either a 1.2V/1300 mAh high-temperature Ni-MH battery or a 3.2V/1300 mAh LiFePO4 battery.
Six LEDs are arranged on four sides of the D123 × H48 mm body, so the marker reads from more than one approach angle. A full charge gives about 150 hours of flashing at 120 flashes per minute, or about 90 hours of steady light. The housing is die-cast aluminium with a polycarbonate window and is rated IP68, with a published static compression figure of about 50 t.
Because the unit is embedded rather than surface-mounted it stays clear of ploughs and sweepers and does not stand proud of the carriageway. The inner core can be replaced on site, so a depleted battery does not mean replacing the whole marker. Yellow, white, red, blue and green versions are available.
